Select Program
The U13–U14 Select Program is designed for players entering an important stage of their soccer development. As players prepare for high school soccer, training becomes increasingly focused on technical execution, tactical understanding, positional development, and the ability to perform in competitive environments.
Players compete in either the IWSL or N1 League during the fall and spring, with the winter dedicated entirely to training and player development.
Fall Competition
During the fall season, teams compete in either the IWSL or N1 League. Players continue to develop through technical, positional, and team-based training while applying those concepts in competitive matches. Games are an extension of training, giving players opportunities to make decisions, solve problems, and become more confident in match environments.
Winter Development
There is no winter league. Instead, the winter is dedicated to training. Without a weekly league schedule, players have more time for technical repetition, individual development, positional work, small-sided play, and sports performance. The winter provides an opportunity to focus on becoming a better player before returning to competition in the spring.
Spring Competition
League competition returns in the spring, with teams competing in either the IWSL or N1 League. Training continues to balance individual development with team concepts as players apply what they developed throughout the winter in competitive matches.
Preparing for High School Soccer
The U13–U14 years are an important bridge between youth and high school soccer. Players are introduced to greater tactical detail, increased positional responsibility, faster decision-making, and higher expectations in training. The goal is not simply to prepare players for their next team. It is to give them the technical ability, game understanding, physical foundation, and confidence to succeed as the game becomes more demanding.
